Reskill & Rise Project Receives 4 Years National Lottery Funding

Reskill & Rise is a 4-year project that will work with young people ages 16 – 24 years in Stockport and Greater Manchester.  The funding will enable us to work with young people from deprived communities in Stockport and Manchester, provide a safe and supportive environment, and access to facilities where they can learn, experiment, and develop their skills in music, events, and creative media.

Some of the workshops we’ll deliver will include

  • Radio Production & Presenting
  • Music Production & Artist development
  • Videography & Photography
  • Events Planning & Management
  • Social Media Marketing

The workshops will be led by a mixture of in-house staff, freelancers, and industry professionals who are leaders in their field. They will share their knowledge and mentor participants, show them new experiences, opportunities, and possible career paths in the creative industries.

Taking on this new knowledge, the young people will be given briefs and projects to work on within Rising Stars, Pie Radio, and partner organisations. Where possible, we’ll secure volunteering opportunities within the creative industries in Stockport and Greater Manchester to widen their network and experiences preparing them for a career in the future.

The last 18 months have been challenging especially for our young people, many were not able to see their friends, the concerts, events and workshops they usually look forward to were cancelled, as well as the lack of youth provisions, work placements and volunteering opportunities, all these things have heavily impacted their mental health and well-being.

We’re grateful to the #NationalLottery for their support and this funding, it will provide a fresh start in 2022, enable us to create a safe place where young people can be creative, learn, have fun, build essential skills and experiences and be around positive influences who will inspire and support them.

There will be a taster session / open day on Wednesday 26th January from 5:30pm – 7:30pm for parents, young people and services to come and ask questions, meet our facilitators, volunteers, and check out our facilities.  Weekly sessions will commence after and run all year round.

Complete the sign-up form below and select which activities you are most interested in. A member of the team will get in touch in January with more information about the taster session / open day.
